About PTA

Our Mission is to be a powerful voice for our children; A relevant resource for our families and communities and a strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child.

2023-2024 Welcome Message from The PWES PTA
Welcome to a new school year from the Phillis Wheatley Elementary School (PWES) Parent Teacher Association. The PWES PTA is a collaborative partnership between our school, our families, and our community which focuses on the children: the children in your home, the children in our school, and the children in our community. If this is your first year at PWES, we would like to extend a very warm welcome to each of you. If you are a “seasoned” PWES family, we know that you are as excited as we are to be starting the school year again.

We are looking forward to continuing the working partnership we have established with the PWES administration, our amazing teachers, our families, our community, and our invaluable staff to provide an excellent learning experience for our children.

We encourage each one of you to become a part of our team. The number one reason to join the PTA is to benefit all the children. In doing so, you help us achieve that goal. Here are some of the many advantages:

*By becoming a member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.

*By volunteering with your PTA, you gain valuable experience and personal confidence. It's an opportunity to put your skills and hobbies to good use, for a good cause.

*By getting involved, you’ll be part of the solution, helping to make positive change.

*PTA functions provide opportunities to meet parents and teachers.

*The PTA is a forum for exchanging ideas; attending the PTA Association meetings throughout the year allows members to make suggestions and provide your input.
